Dr Gugu Ngubane is public health medical doctor with a degree from the University of KwaZulu Natal and is an Oliver Tambo Fellow in Health Leadership with the University of Cape Town, among other qualifications.
Gugu has over 20 years of diverse experience at policy, operational and implementation levels of the SA health system, at national and provincial level. Her wide areas of expertise include, amongst others, education, empowerment, access to and quality of health care, universal health coverage, strategies to build resilient health systems, especially during and post-pandemics and any health security threats.
Before joining the Fund, Gugu was a Chief Operating Officer and Head of Epidemiology and Strategic Information at HISP SA, an NGO that leads development of health information systems and digital health planning. Her experience in leadership, as well as on a technical and advisor level, makes her a valuable addition to the Solidarity Fund.
